In the Fall of 2023, Coach McKay returned to Tamanawis to coach the Varsity boys for the first time since 2019. Coach McKay previously coached the Wildcats in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2019. During Coach McKay's tenure, the Wildcats have a record of 188-31 (59-1 league) and have won 3 Fraser Valley Championships, as well as a South Fraser Championship in 2024. Coach McKay has led the Wildcats to a 12-4 record at the 4A Provincials finishing 3rd in 2014, 2nd in 2016, 3rd in 2018 and 2nd in 2024.
Coach McKay spent 3 seasons coaching at KPU, 3 seasons at Douglas College and one season at SFU. During his time at SFU, they led the NCAA in scoring at 104 ppg and finished with a school record for wins. Coach McKay also works with Basketball BC as a Provincial Team coach and analyst as well with Basketball Canada programs. He has coached at various University summer camps throughout North America, as well as club / AAU basketball. Coach McKay played collegiately in both the USA and Canada and holds a master's degree in coaching and administration. He is a level 3 NCCP coach.
Mr. Johnston is in his second year at Tamanawis as Principal. Coach Johnston has spent many years in the BC high school basketball community as a coach and on the executive of the high school boys association. Coach Johnston built a consistent Provincial contending program at Seaquam in the early 2000's before moving in to admin roles in Delta and Surrey.
Coach David returns as the Head Coach of the Wildcats Junior Varsity staff. Coach David led the 2023 Wildcats to a South Fraser championship and a JV finals appearance. Coach David is the lead assistant for Douglas College in the CCAA. He is also a Basketball BC provincial team coach and Basketball Canada Academy coach. Coach David represented BC on the u15 and u17 provincial teams, played collegiately at Douglas college and professionally in the Philippines.
Coach Randing will be the Head Coach for this years grade 9 squad. Coach Randing is an established high school and club coach that has coached many of BC's best players. Coach Randing has a bachelor's degree and is a teacher in PE department at Tamanawis.
Coach Samra will be the Head Coach of the Grade 8 Wildcats this year. After being with the gr 9 squad last year they showed tremendous growth.
Coach Dulay is currently in charge of player development for the boys program. Outside of Tamanawis, Coach Dulay runs his own training academy with his wife Harleen Dulay. XV Training Academy was founded in 2018 and have helped many players reach the NCAA, USport and CCAA levels. Coach Dulay has also coached at the USport level at UFV where he was also a Canada West Allstar. He won many MVP's and allstar awards in his time at Tamanawis and qualified for the Provincial tournaments all 5 years. Coach Dulay's focus this year is on player development and assisting multiple Wildcats teams.
